“Merci~” Francis took the mug carefully, taking a dainty sip of the liquid. He looked up to Matthew, surprised. “This is amazing!” He smelled the aroma of it, smiling brightly. “What blend is this, what did you put in here? It’s much better than most coffee is…”

Matthew chuckled, “I didn’t check what blend it was, I just grab whatever’s there… And I put sugar, creamer, and a lot of maple syrup in it!” he said with a smile as he sat on the edge of his couch, sipping his coffee gently. “Taste it, it tastes better than it smells~” he said.

Francis took a big sip of the drink, sighing contentedly with the taste. “Mmm, maple syrup, why didn’t I think of that?” He smiled, patting the sofa next to him in a request for Matthew to sit down. “It’s really good~”

Matthew chuckled, looking and scooting closer to Francis, sipping his coffee gently. “It’s not the healthiest thing of my day, but… I like it.” he said with a nod, looking at his reflection in his coffee “M-merci beaucoup… I try to make good coffee~” he said, smiling as he used his free hand to adjust his slipping glasses once more.

“Most plain coffee tends to be dreadful, so you did a good job…” Francis took another sip, allowing them to fall into a comfortable silence. He also broke the silence, asking “So how have you been, Mathieu, how’s life?”

“Thank you…” he said, returning to his coffee. He blushed as the steam wafted to his face. “Life?” he asked, looking at Francis then back to his coffee. “It’s… Fine I guess. Yeah.. Fine. Everything is fine.” he said. Matthew’d been telling himself this for months, and wasn’t sure if he was lying anymore.
